El Remanso

Osa Peninsula region

El Remanso is surrounded by primary rainforest in an area of high biodiversity. The lodge is owner operated and has just 13 rooms nestled into the forest and overlooking the Pacific Ocean with access to trails, waterfalls, secluded wild beaches and tide pools within the 185 acre private reserve.

Rooms: There are three classic cabins that each have a King bed and 2 deluxe cabins with spacious open decks. Then there are two deluxe suites on the upper level of Casa Poniente with open terraces and four standard rooms on the ground floor with covered terraces and external bathrooms. All rooms are open to the surrounds and have louvred windows (but are not screened).

Dining: occurs in the large open air restaurant with fantastic views over the forest canopy. The menu offers international cuisine with a Costa Rican influence and dinner is chosen from two set menu options which change daily. Coffee and tea start early at 5.30am and breakfast from 6am so that guests can enjoy the birdlife.

Onsite: There is a pool onsite with large wooden deck that offers views across the forest and the sunset. There are many trails onsite that can be explored independently or with one of the resident naturalist guides. These trails pass by forest, rivers, waterfalls, beaches and tide pools. There is early morning birdwatching and night hikes available. For adventurous guests there is a four hour waterfall rappelling tour.

Nearby Excursions: Nearby excursions could include a three hour horse riding trip to the rainforest and beach and kayaking or dolphin watching on the Golfo Dulce.

Our Comment: Toucans, scarlet macaws, howler monkeys and spider monkeys can all be spotted without leaving the hotel grounds. This remote lodge is ideal for nature lovers and birdwatchers.
