Playa Cativo has a unique location on the banks of the Golfo Dulce surrounded by 1,000 acres of primary rainforest and access to the Piedras National Park that has a further 35,000 acres of rainforest to be explored with 140 species of wildlife and 370 species of birds to be seen! Dolphins are regularly spotted on the Golfo Dulce and between late July and October guests may see Humpback whales.
Rooms There will be 18 high end rooms at the lodge ranging from luxury rooms in the main building to individual premium casitas with beach access.
Dining The El Gavilan restaurant serves a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner at any time during the day. Excellent meals are prepared using fresh organic ingredients. Fine wines, Costa Rican crafted beers and cocktails are also available for guests.
Onsite The lodge boasts a mile long beach that is a short walk from the rooms. The beach has snorkelling in front of the hotel and the adventure centre provides guests with paddleboards and kayaks. There is a freshwater, chemical free swimming pool onsite, a yoga platform and a spa.
Nearby Excursions The lodge can arrange an array of exciting excursions with their onsite naturalist guides to explore the surrounding habitat, including hiking and birdwatching in the Piedra Blancas Park, guided kayaking tour along the mangroves, rivers and ocean, dolphin and whale watching boat tours on the Golfo Dulce, guided night hikes with naturalist guide to spot frogs, bats and insects, half day guided snorkelling or diving (advance notice required) at local spots on the Golfo Dulce.
